Public Awareness & Advocacy
Comunity Based Public Awareness & Advocacy
The propose of public awareness is to increase participant's knowledge of intellectual disability and change the participant's attitude, to make a deliberate effort to include a person with intellectual disability in development work. We have learned the "seeing is believing " and therefore person with intellectual disabled themself play an important role in society.
There is a strong link between poverty and disability. Poor people have a higher risk of acquiring a disability. They are more exposed to disabling diseases and conditions. At the same time, disability increases the possibility of falling into poverty by being excluded of participants of the development initiative. The cycle of disability and poverty must and can be broken.
Every year, we celebrate international disable day on Dec. 4 & Intellectual Disabled Day on 18th Sept. In that occasion, all children's, parents, a teaching staff member of the management committee of the daycare center & some other disability-related organization, concerning governmental authorities, social activist are participating in a rally with play cards & banner. The rally focused on equal rights, disability access, opportunity & full participation for the person with intellectual disability.
Time to time, we organize a community-based awareness programs in different villages as well as in governmental high school level schools. In this program, we aware to high school students & other participants about what's the Intellectual Disability, how we care about them, what are their rights, duties, and responsibilities of parents, community as well as the nations. In that occasion, the Local Government's authorities, health post, Police security center, Village development board, political leaders, school and campus-level teachers, social workers, local NGO, parents, and the general public are especially invited .this program is looking very effective for awareness regarding the people with intellectual disability.
